Mobile id+ Card
Penn Staters can access University resources through a mobile id+ card by simply holding their device to a reader. The mobile id+ card allows students, faculty, and staff to use their iPhone, Apple Watch or Android phone to access campus buildings, securely make purchases with a meal plan or LionCash and so much more.
Please note that not all locations accept contactless or tap-to-pay transactions. The physical id+ card may still be necessary in certain locations. To provision a mobile id+ card, follow the instructions based on the device below.
Setting up your mobile id+ card on iPhone or Apple Watch:
- Tap the id+ card icon in the Penn State Go app.
- Download the Transact eAccounts Mobile app from the App Store to your phone.
- Search for Penn State and click through to the SSO (Single Sign-On) login screen
- Enter your Penn State user-id ([email protected]) to authenticate your device.
- Once you have successfully authenticated into eAccounts, click Add to Apple Wallet [1] or Apple Watch [1]. Click through the startup screens and tap Get Started.
Using mobile id+ card on an iPhone:
The iPhone or Apple Watch must be powered on, but it does not have to be connected to a network.
On an iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, double-clicking the Home button, tapping the default payment card and selecting the mobile id+ card are needed to enable usage. Then, authenticating with Touch ID and holding the top of iPhone 6 or 6 Plus near the contactless reader will complete a transaction.
For iPhones 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and later, Express Mode allows use of the mobile id+ card without unlocking the device with a passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID. Through iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, Express Mode with power reserve makes the id+ card available for up to five hours after the device’s battery needs to be charged.
- To display your mobile id+ card open Apple Wallet and select your Penn State mobile id+ card from your saved cards.
Setting up mobile id+ card on Android devices:
- Enable NFC on your phone in your Settings menu. NFC settings can be found in different areas of the Settings menu, depending on your device. A common location is Connected Devices>Connection Settings. (If not found, use the Search option on the top right to double check.)
- Toggle the NFC setting to On.
- Tap the id+ card icon in the Penn State Go app.
- Open Google Wallet and make sure it is the default payment application. If the app prompts you to add a credit card, you can bypass that screen and return to the Google Wallet home screen.
- Download the Transact eAccounts Mobile app from the Google Play Store to your phone.
- Open Transact eAccounts, click through the startup screens and tap Get Started.
- Search for Penn State and click through to the Single Sign-On (SSO) login screen.
- Enter your Penn State user-id ([email protected]) to authenticate your device.
- Once you have successfully authenticated into eAccounts, click the Add to Google Wallet button to add your mobile id+ card to Google Wallet [1].
- Continue through the prompts (Next, Accept the Penn State Terms & Conditions).
- Next, Accept the Google Wallet Terms of Service.
- The next screen will confirm that the ID has been added to Google Wallet.
Using mobile id+ card on Android devices:
The phone does not need to be unlocked, but the screen must be awake to use the mobile id+ card. To display your mobile id+ card, open the Transact eAccounts app and select the View in Google Wallet icon.
Note: Antenna location varies by device. Android phones typically have the antenna located in the middle of the phone.

Troubleshooting
Setting phone region to United States
Your phone's region needs to be set to the United States. Follow the directions below to change your region.
- Tap on Settings, then select your username.
- Choose Media & Purchases, View Account, then Country/Region.
- Change your region to the US and input your payment method (required).
- It will then prompt you to cancel any recurring subscriptions that require payment, such as Apple Music. The region cannot be changed until all paid subscriptions have ended, so change the region after the last end date. Subscriptions can be canceled in the Apple ID settings.
- After updating the region, return to the eAccounts app and select Add to Wallet.
Apple Device Specific
For Apple users, if you are unable to add the mobile id+ card after several attempts, please log out of iCloud and log back in before attempting again.
If there is any concern about username, password, or 2-Factor Authentication (2FA), test logging in with the Apple ID on iCloud.com from a web-browser.
Approve Photo Required
An approved photo is required prior to adding a mobile id+ card. For instructions and submitting a photo, go to idcard.psu.edu/photo-submission.
