How to Enroll New Devices

Penn State students, faculty, and staff who purchase or receive new personal devices, including smartphones and smartwatches, must:

1. Visit id.psu.edu/deactivate to remove your old credentials from the Transact eAccounts app.

2. Read the following instructions to activate mobile id+ in Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, and Samsung Wallet.

iPhones and Apple Watches

Follow these instructions to remove the mobile id+ card from your Apple Wallet or login into your Apple account at appleid.apple.com to remove all passes.

  1. Open your Wallet or Watch App.  

  1. Click on the (…) in the bottom right corner of your iPhone.

  2. If you're in the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll down and select Wallet & Apple Pay. Tap on Transact Mobile Credential.

  3. Scroll down and select Remove Card.

Android Smartphones

If you're an Android user, you will need to remove the mobile id+ card directly from your Google Wallet.

  1. Open the Google Wallet App or visit wallet.google.com.  

  2. Select the pass that you want to remove. 

  3. Click on (...) in the top right corner.

  4. Click Remove ID and confirm. If you can't access your old device, call the Penn State id+ Office at 814-865-7590 for assistance.

Samsung Phones and Smartwatches

Once you remove your old credentials, you can redownload the Samsung Wallet or Watch app on your new device.

  1. Open the Samsung Wallet or Galaxy Wearable App on your old device.  

  1. Select Quick Access or click Watch Settings. Tap on your mobile id+ card or choose Student ID.  

  1. Click on the (…) in the top right corner.  

  1. Select Delete. Confirm deletion. 

BEFORE you activate your mobile id+ card on a new device, enroll in Microsoft Multifactor Authentication.

Enroll Your Device in MFA

To activate the mobile id+ card on your new device, you must enroll your new device in Microsoft Multifactor Authentication (MFA). Once you are enrolled in MFA, you will be able to download the Transact eAccounts app. Please read the following MFA enrollment instructions:

New Phone | Same Phone Number

If you're getting a new phone, login to Microsoft My Sign-Ins with your Penn State Account to enable alternative authentication methods and add MFA backup options. If you already have a new phone, download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your device.

New Phone | Different Phone Number

If your old device is still enrolled, you can manage your MFA settings and add a sign-in method. To learn more, read Penn State Account holders can add another device for MFA. If you cannot access your old device, you must enroll your new phone. Please read Replace My MFA Enrolled Phone with a New Phone or submit a Get Help ticket through Penn State’s IT Help Portal.
